A blood-soaked exploration of Black identity, ritual and desire that transforms vampirism into an unsettling anthropological inquiry. 'Ganja & Hess' will be preceded by a lecture on anthropological horror by Edward Akintola Hubbard, an anthropologist, artist and curator.

Op 29 en 30 oktober 2026 vindt het vijfde UNESCO Global Forum against Racism and Discrimination plaats in Den Haag. Filmhuis Den Haag sluit hierbij aan met drie films die de impact van racisme en discriminatie belichten: 'Una Mujer Fantástica', 'Rabbit-Proof Fence' en 'Everyday Dignity – Philomena Essed'.

Getting the Band Back Together

Music brings us together. Whether that’s from Amsterdam to The Hague, from one end of the Grote Marktstraat to the other, or in a high school bathroom, outside the closed doors of your favourite band’s concert, or at a barn with vampires lurking outside. That's why this November, Filmhuis Den Haag, Melkweg and PAARD are striking the same chord to present GETTING THE BAND BACK TOGETHER: a joint film programme celebrating bands in all shapes, sizes and genres.
Eastern Neighbours Film Festival

Held annually at Filmhuis Den Haag, ENFF showcases recent, powerful films including features, documentaries, shorts, and animations, connecting Dutch and international audiences to the vibrant cinema from broader Eastern Europe.

In de reeks Hoe lees ik een film? ga je als lezer naar de film met Lidewijde Paris. Je krijgt een kijkhint vooraf en achteraf praten we met zijn allen na over de literaire aspecten.

Vijftig jaar na de onafhankelijkheid vertellen elf Surinaamse makers persoonlijke verhalen over het land van vandaag: over taal, muziek, natuur en wat je doorgeeft aan volgende generaties. Samen vormen hun films één programma dat je meeneemt naar hun Suriname.

As Scott battles his way through Ramona’s seven evil exes, video game sound effects and sonic exaggeration turn heartbreak into an explosive audiovisual experience. 'Scott Pilgrim vs. The World' will be preceded by a lecture on sound design by Karel Rebane, a sound designer, director and student at the Willem de Kooning Academy.
No Limits Festival

No Limits Festival zet makers met een beperking in de spotlight en maakt ruimte voor nieuwe perspectieven in theater en film. Dit jaar beleef je het festival ook bij Filmhuis Den Haag!

Through the expressive physicality of puppetry, Dickens’s tale of redemption comes alive in a world where artificial bodies convey remarkably human emotions. 'The Muppet Christmas Carol' will be preceded by a lecture on puppetry by Judith Marseille, a theatre, film and television scholar specialising in the history of puppetry.
